How it works.

You choose a car on the marketplace or at auction, review what is known about it, and fund a budget for it through the platform. You then authorize AFRIKARS to buy that car from the dealer or auction house on your behalf, at up to the amount you approve. We buy it, move it to the port, ship it, act as importer of record, clear customs, and deliver it to your door. Title passes from the seller to you. You track every stage in the app, from the port to your driveway.

We currently source vehicles from the US and deliver into Nigeria. We're expanding sourcing to Europe, Dubai, and China.

On the marketplace, before you authorize a purchase you review the dealer's walkthrough video and the vehicle history report, both checked by our team first, together with the listing photos. Nothing is bought until you have seen them.

Auction vehicles are different. They are sold "as is", with the auction's own photos and condition report, plus a VIN check you can run before you bid. Once you authorize an auction purchase, you accept the vehicle's condition.

You can browse the marketplace and the auction lots, or request a specific make, model, or spec. If it's not already listed, we look for it through our dealer and auction network and come back to you with what we find.

AFRIKARS does not guarantee a delivery time. On average, we have seen cars delivered in 6 weeks from the point of purchase, covering sourcing, shipping, and customs clearing. You track every stage in real time in the app.

We do. AFRIKARS is the importer of record and holds its own customs license. We clear your vehicle and pay the duties on your behalf, so you never deal with the port or intermediaries. Your car arrives fully cleared.

You receive the documents for your vehicle: the title, transferred from the seller to you, the customs clearance papers, and proof of duty paid. The car arrives cleared and ready for you to register.

Registration and plates are an optional service you can add when you request the car. Otherwise you register the car yourself with the title and customs papers we hand over.

The price you see is the full landed cost: the vehicle, shipping, customs duties, and our service fee, delivered to your door. You see the complete cost before you commit.

AFRIKARS does its best to give you the full all-in landed cost upfront. However, government regulation or other factors outside our control may increase the landed cost to you. While this is a rare occurrence, it is a possibility.

Our service fee covers the checks our team runs on the car, buying it on your behalf, secure escrow, importer-of-record handling, customs clearing, and door delivery: the full end-to-end handling of your purchase.

Yes. An AFRIKARS VIN check is a paid report at ₦8,500 that anyone can buy with a card, with no account needed.

Customers whose identity is verified get 3 checks free at the point of purchase. A free check is used before a card is ever asked for.

You must be 18 or over to use AFRIKARS.

Your funds are held in secure escrow and released in stages, only as each step of your purchase is verified and completed. The dealer is paid only after you authorize the purchase, and an auction house is paid when a bid wins.

You fund your purchase in Naira or US Dollars. You always see the exact amount and rate at every step.

You set a budget for the car you want and fund it in naira. Cars are bought and currencies converted between 9:00 and 16:55 WAT, Monday to Friday, because that is when our payment partner swaps currency.

A budget that is not put towards a car within 21 days is returned to your own bank account. One extension of up to 14 days is available.

Dollars converted for a purchase and not spent within 90 days are converted back at the rate locked when you swapped, and returned.

The price you authorize is the most you pay for the car. Any saving we negotiate below it is shared with you under the split you choose when you request the car, and your share goes back to your balance.

Yes. Funds added but not yet applied to a purchase can be withdrawn back to your account, returned in the currency you funded in.

Withdrawals of unused funds are available after a 20-day security hold. Withdrawals and refunds go to a verified bank account in your own name.

Marine insurance is optional cover you can add to your quote. Your car is photographed at pickup and again at the port, so any transit damage is documented. If your car arrives damaged, we take it up with the carrier on your behalf.

Not at this time. Purchases are completed in full through the platform. Financing is planned for the near future.
